Amazon, Berkshire Hathaway and JPMorgan announced on Tuesday that they will be joining forces to form a health care company that will serve their employees. Dr. Stephen Klasko, President and CEO of Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health was among experts interviewed by multiple media outlets to weigh in on what many are calling a watershed moment.

In response to hysteria caused by this recent news, Dr. Klasko told Becker’s Hospital Review that the response needs to be less about blaming other factors for this transformation and admit that, “We have to change this.” He continued, “We need to improve access and patient’s cost and experience so that the burning platform can be shared.”

Dr. Klasko told Modern Healthcare, “At a time when Amazon has technology to enter your house with same-day delivery or have a totally automated grocery store, they are not content with our lame explanations around transparency, inequities and even sending a believable understandable bill.”
