Dr. Klasko was recently interviewed by NBC 10 @Issue’s Keith Jones about Jefferson’s goal to reimagine healthcare.
“When [Jefferson] merges with Abington, it’s not a hub and spoke; we are not going to get more people down to center city Philadelphia,” said Dr. Klasko. “We are going to get Jefferson care out to Abington.”
Dr. Klasko also spoke about bringing Jefferson “into your home” through JeffConnect, the newest addition to Jefferson’s Telemedicine program. The JeffConnect app will allow patients and families to video chat with their doctors for follow-up or non-emergency visits. This will help to eliminate travel, allow doctors to work with patients more efficiently and save time and money, creating a better patient experience.
Next, the two discussed the upcoming Independence/Jefferson Health Hack, which will bring together people from diverse backgrounds who would not normally interact. The goal is to create new ways to promote access and delivery of healthcare within three tracks: Reducing Readmissions, Wearables, and Drone-based Healthcare Delivery.
Dr. Klasko also shared why he believes Jefferson is one of the region’s top employers noting, “We’re one of the very few places in healthcare that is more optimistic about their future than their past.”
